About This Site
This site is designed to showcase some of the beautiful items made by Steve Shay. We call him the Woodshepherd. He builds some of the most incredible boxes you can imagine. His boxes are internationally known, and are found in many of the states in the United States, and across Canada.
Steve lives and works in Canada near Maitland, ON, along the beautiful St. Lawrence River. You will find an interesting mix of spirituality and craftmenship in his work and on these pages. His father, Robert F. Shay Jr. was a huge influence on his life. At his hand he learned an appreciation for excellance and perseverence. Mr. Shay taught all his sons that a person should "Neither a scrooge, nor a patsy be," and to always do their best. It was from his mother Dorothy, that he acquired an appreciation for, and the patience to design and complete unique pieces of hand work. For both of his parents and  his brothers Rick and Dave, he gives thanks to God for lives lived and lessons learned.
Perhaps you have already discovered the treasures hidden in the "pages" of this website. If not, roam around. Enjoy the hand crafted boxes, dresser top trays, toys, small furniture items, specialty church woodwork, and his wonderful wooden kitchen ware. He makes finely turned pens and matching pencils too with unique boxes in which to keep them.

Steve's work has been accepted by, and he is an exhibiting member of the Juried Online Arts Festival and the Electronic Cottage Arts and Craft Gallery. He is pleased to be shown in such company. His site is also included in the Woodworker's Webring.
Most importantly, enjoy your visit here.
