My Dedication
I dedicate my work to my father, Robert F. Shay.  It was from him that I learned to strive for excellance.  It was not that less was unacceptable.  It was that one should put out the best work possible. It was not striving to do so - that was unacceptable.

          "If a job's worth doing,
                      it's worth doing right."
                                                     R. F. Shay Jr.
It was my father's sence of humor that often blessed me, and thousands of others.  In the face of turmoil, difficulties and doom he would inject his passionate sence of humor.  He was forever collecting and sharing little stories, and he loved a good laugh.
Among his things I found these ideas which interested and amused him. I pass them along so you might be blessed too.
"I am not afraid of tomorrow for I have seen yesterday and I love today." - anon.
Husband: - "Where is yesterday's newspaper?"
Wife:            "I wrapped the garbage in it."
    - "Oh, I wanted to see it."
  "Honey, there wasn't much to see . . .
just some apple peels,
and a few coffee grounds!"
And this prayer, found in his beloved  Mercersburg Academy file:

                                "God is so good, the world still fine;
Sadly the two don't quite combine.
But we must look for happy days,
And never cease God's name to praise.
So eat with joy and drink with love,
And say, ' Thank goodness, God's above.' "
Thanks for being a great teacher by example Dad. You really made a difference in the world around you.  I had the privalege of  working along side you and watching you do it for many unforgetable years. You were an outstanding example of service to humanity, to our family, to me, and to everyone who knew you.  I miss you a great deal.   - scs
